Quest for the perfect overdrive!

There are tens of thousands of different pedals on the market, but they breakdown into five different catagories.

My Guide for the Perfect Pedal

  • Is it affordable?

    • $100-$150 is just fine for a professional overdrive pedal…you don’t need a $250 pedal… just get a different amp at that point.

  • Simple is better!

    • I like having 3, maybe 4 knobs. Volume, Gain, and maybe something to change the color/tone. Any more and my small guitar brain starts to malfunction

  • Size, the smaller the better!

    • That way I can fit more pedals on my pedalboard without needing a second (eventually third) pedalboard!

  • Know what you have!

    • Want an Octave Generator? What about a pedal that can make your guitar sound like a keyboard? NO! Control yourself!

    • Gear Acquisition Syndrome is a serious disorder that most guitarists suffer with, but with help, you can learn to cope!

    • Learn about every single pedal that you already own. You need to know how every knob and switch works and what happens when you adujst and combine them. Compose a peice using each individual pedal, then compose a piece(s) mixing and matching your different pedals. Only then you can grow your gear collection without the crippling guilt!
